Day On The Hill Event
2024 HIV Advocacy Day On The Hill
In March 2024, the Tennessee AIDS Action Network (TAAN) and Nashville CARES will bring together advocates and service providers from across the state to meet with state legislators and tell the stories of People Living with HIV, build relationships, and increase visibility to ensure the continued support of our lawmakers as they deliberate the ongoing funding of HIV prevention and services in Tennessee.
In 2023, TAAN, Nashville CARES, and advocates across Tennessee were successful in efforts to update Tennessee’s HIV criminalization law by introducing and advocating for the removal of the requirement for sex offender registration for those convicted of HIV criminal exposure. The change to the law also provides a pathway for anyone who was placed on the registry to petition to be removed.
The real-world implications of this change are astronomical for those impacted. While we look forward to the time when the law may be repealed completely, we know that this small change will make a huge difference for PLWH in Tennessee.
Please join us on March 26th & 27th for our HIV Advocacy Day On The Hill event!
